Flexible Legal Resourcing – Client FAQs

Do you need additional resourcing for your legal team?

Here are some of our client FAQs. Please call us on 020 7040 0973 if you have any further questions.

Q: What do you do?

A: Accutrainee offers clients a unique way to access flexible junior resources including trainee solicitors in line with business needs. We act as the SRA training establishment so ALL regulatory requirements are dealt with by us. We employ the junior resource and second them to our clients meaning no change in your headcount but access to top quality additional resourcing when your team needs it.

Q: Why do clients use Accutrainee?

A: There are lots of reasons why clients use us including:

  • removal of all regulatory burdens, headcount issues and lengthy screening processes
  • complete flexibility in resourcing
  • quality assurance through the work we do to identify the best candidates available
  • succession planning
  • meeting a short term resourcing need due to an unanticipated increase in workloads
  • handling an unexpected resource shortage
Q: How long does each secondment last?

A: It’s up to you and dependent on your business needs but typically trainee secondments are between 6 and 24 months. Other legal resourcing will be dependent on the duration of your project.

Q: Is there a minimum secondment period I can have a trainee for?

A: 3 months is the minimum secondment period. However, ideally we would prefer 6 months or more to ensure a trainee has had sufficient time to settle in and demonstrate their abilities to you.

Q: Can I get a trainee at short notice?

A: Yes, dependent on your needs, we have trainees on our books who can start straight away.

Q: Our team doesn’t do any contentious work, is it still possible to have a trainee?

A: Absolutely. We employ the trainee and ensure that contentious work is covered either in other secondments or through structured training.

Q: If I want to take on the trainee once they qualify, is there an additional cost?

A: No, there is no additional cost to you should you decide to employ a trainee on qualification.

Q: I already have a candidate in mind who has worked with us for some time. Can Accutrainee employ them and second them back to us?

A: In short, yes. We work with many clients in this situation who wish to develop an existing

graduate but perhaps are not so familiar with the regulatory requirements. We will take care of

everything for you.

Q: Who are your clients?

A: We work with a wide variety of law firms ranging from small boutique to large city firms, as well

as in-house legal departments, which consist of anything from 1 to more than 400 lawyers.

Q: I like the idea of having a trainee but we’re such a small team, how can we take on a trainee?

A: It only requires one experienced lawyer who is keen to help a trainee learn and develop to make

this work. We deal with the rest for you. In exchange you get a hard-working, ambitious trainee who

might one day help make your team a little bigger!

Q: Who is the training principal and who manages the SRA regulatory compliance?

A: Accutrainee is regulated by the SRA and provides the Training Principal managing all regulatory

requirements and compliance for qualification.

Q: How is the secondment process more cost-efficient for the client?

A: Typically clients only pay for a trainee when they are in the office working for them and not when

they are on holiday, sick leave or training leave. Our rates are very competitive when compared to a

law firm’s hourly rate for trainees or comparable agency rates.
